I really love how versatile this Sizzix die is. It comes with four different flowers. I used it to make a candle holder and the pins you see below. This picture kind of gives you the approximate sizes of the flowers from the die.
INSTRUCTIONS:This was made using roof flashing. You can buy a 6" x 50 ft roll of the stuff at any home improvement store. I used my flower folds die and cut out the 3 largest flowers. I then ran those through my embossing folder for some texture. Next I took a Real Red re-inker and some rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and rubbed over metal to color it a little. Sealed with a clear acrylic spay so the color wouldn't come off.
These were ALSO made using the flower folds die. This time we only used the 2 smallest flowers to make these pins The top one I made at a class at my friend Anne's. It uses all cotton fabric. The bottom 2 use upholstery fabric and have a little more dimension and body to them. IF you're gonna make these use the upholstery fabric if you have the choice. It works so much better. OH yeah be careful with glue guns. I have a big nasty blister to prove I wasn't careful.
Have I talked you into the Big Shot yet. Come on! You know you want one!!! Order HERE if you can't resist the call of the Big Shot.

Thanks for the inspiration. What a great idea to use roof flasing. Would they stand up to being outside on the deck?
Can you let me know?

Ellen,
When I was done I sealed them with a krylon clear glaze seal. Other than blowing away I dont see why they wouldnt work outside on your deck. I like that the flashing made it cheap enough to experiment. I used the 3 biggest flowers when making this project.
