Rag Bag Part 1

I thought I'd try my hand at making one of these bags even though I didn't know how to sew when I started this endeavor.  My friend Erica Bass taught me how to sew and really helped me out with this bag.  I am desperately searching for fabric that is purple and black but sadly none seems to exist. I was stuck with pink and black instead ;o)  

 
This was the pattern I chose and of course I wanted it bigger than the 2 x3 row bags I'd seen!!! I don't do anything easy the first time.  Let me know what you think. ALSO if you know where I can find black/purple fabric.  Check back tomorrow for the finished project.
